Thanksgiving!

For Thanksgiving this year, the 4 of us (Halo included) headed up to my family's cabin on Whidbey Island. It was a pretty busy 48 hours....

We met my parents at the cabin on Wednesday evening. Brandon entertained us by pushing a box all over the room and running around with tons of energy after a 3 hour car ride (we had to wait in quite the ferry line on the way there). But he finally settled down and fell asleep only an hour later than normal.

Unfortunately, Brandon woke up Thanksgiving morning with a running nose and proceeded to become Mr. Cranky-butt as the day progressed. However, we still managed to take a nice family walk and spot a few of the neighborhood deer that morning. Brandon was in awe of the deer...he pointed to them and we think he said "dog."

As the morning went on, my sisters joined us and we began eating and drinking the day away (just as you're supposed to on Thanksgiving, right?!). Becca made her yummy sweet potato dish (which I have been enjoying as leftovers everyday since). Jessica spent the day visiting and reading "Twilight" which I believe is about a 500 page book...of course, in true Jessica-fashion, she finished the whole thing that day.

As the afternoon progressed, Josh's brother Brett, Brett's girlfriend Sarah, and Brandon's cousin Gabriel joined us all and the real party began! We had so much fun visiting, eating, and let's not forget...drinking. The turkey dinner and all the fixings were incredible. Josh and I both had to take 10 minute power naps on the couch afterwards to recover from the insane volume of food that we consumed. And despite poor Brandon having to deal with his mother who was constantly trying to wipe his snotty nose, he was quite a trooper, and even tried to eat his meal with a fork (he was unsuccessful, but it sure was cute!). He also showed off his new move...his Daddy taught him to say "touchdown" and hold his hands straight up in the air. And by the end of the evening, Brandon had all of us doing it with him.

The next morning, our oldest family friend, Sharon (who we grew up calling Auntie Sharon), came over for brunch before we headed home. It was great to see her and have a chance to visit!

And although we were unable to be with our entire extended family this Thanksgiving, we thought of you all often and love you very much!
